Evidence-Based Care

We deliver Positive Behaviour Support that puts People First

At Kennix Care Behavioural Services, we deliver Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) that is respectful, practical, and centred on the individual. PBS is a proven, evidence-based approach that looks beyond behaviours of concern to understand their underlying causes.

Instead of simply trying to control behaviour, we focus on reducing distress, building positive skills, and improving overall quality of life for NDIS participants and their support networks.

Clear Answers

Frequently asked questions

What is Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)? +

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is an evidence-based approach focused on understanding why behaviours of concern occur. Instead of using restrictive methods, PBS focuses on environmental adjustments, skill building, and proactive communication to improve quality of life and reduce distress.

Is PBS available across all of Western Australia? +

Yes. While our general disability supports focus on Bunbury and the South West WA region, our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) practitioners cover participants statewide across all of Western Australia.

How is PBS funded under the NDIS? +

PBS is funded under the Capacity Building — Improved Relationships budget category in an NDIS plan. This covers Specialist Behavioural Intervention Support and Behaviour Management Plan development.

What is the difference between an Interim and Comprehensive Plan? +

An Interim Behaviour Support Plan (IBSP) is developed quickly to address immediate safety concerns and document regulated restrictive practices. A Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan (CBSP) is developed following a full Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) to outline long-term skill development.

How quickly can a PBS intake begin? +

We review all referrals within 24 to 48 hours. Our intake team will contact you promptly to discuss funding, goals, and practitioner availability.
